Tesla announced an event to commemorate the launch of Gigafactory Texas, its newest production plant and second in the United States, according to Teslarati.

Giga Texas, which is located just east of downtown Austin, will manufacture multiple Tesla electric vehicles, including the Model Y and Cybertruck.

After holding one at its German plant, Gigafactory Berlin, in late 2021, Musk announced that Tesla would have a "Giga Fest" event in Texas with a southern twist.

Tesla submitted an application to the Travis County Fire Marshal's office in February, requesting permission to organise the event.

The application was approved by the office, which meant it would be sent to the Travis County Commissioners' Court for final approval.

Following a public hearing where local neighbours may have expressed their concerns, the Commissioners' Court overwhelmingly accepted Tesla's application.

Local citizens had a few reservations about the public hearing. Tesla's community outreach was criticised by one resident, who compared the automaker's quick and efficient construction procedures to hostile neighbours.

While Commissioner Brigid Shea acknowledged that Tesla could engage with the community more, she also remarked that she was "not willing to deny this permission for this enormous event they've been planning for a long time."

Invitations are currently being sent to various members of the community, although not all 15,000 people appear to have been invited.
